You call your grandmother to wish her a happy birthday, but don't tell her that your GF also wished her a happy birthday even though she can clearly hear your GF in the room because it's your grandparents and admitting that you're now dating a woman, is nearly impossible let alone on her birthday. Then your GF looks at you weird because it's been more than clear for the last few months that your grandmother knows exactly what is going on but hasn't bothered to say it out loud either.
Yeah, life's like that some times.
